The new metro optical rings with up to OC-192, 10 Gbps capacity will allow Covad and its wholesale partners to provide services just as complex and bandwidth intensive as the big boys now.
Where does this put them? That depends upon how they play things out, but it sure looks good for the somewhat legacy broadband CLEC now.
Covad is an old friend of ours from the early days of the Internet. A company of my past, SpectrumDSL DBA WebSTABLE, once ran an OC12 from 990 Stewart Avenue in Garden City Long Island to their backbone in New York City at the turn of the century. In those days we had a sales force of nearly 100 people just for DSL in the Tri-state area. Oh what a time we had together!
Covad, keep on plugging! We wish you well.
